Will do gearbox locally... got a few favours owed! Might even have a crack at it myself... can't be that hard anyway... Lee and I did a whole engine/box swap on the Jetta.

- New gearbox - check
- New rims - check
- Vento front end with early grille - check
- New front and rear lights - check

- Beetle steels - nearly check

Still to come...

- Headlining
- Paint
- TDi rear hatch & boot plinth

I'm seriously thinking about keeping this Mk3 now and selling the Audi, so much so that I've just secured a set of replacement 18" rims for the A4 so I can keep the BBS's if it goes.

Rolling Eyes

It's purely to get as much money into the wedding fund as is humanly possible... not just because I fancy a change... honest! If I sell the A4, I'll have more money to put in than if I sell the Mk3.

Done a little bit of cosmetic work on it... nothing serious. When it's gearbox has bene done, I can get it up on the ramps and get to work on it!

So, the lovely leather it has...

And some fresh standard rear lights... to match the orange fronts and sides.

That's it for now. More pics when I've actually done something worth showing!

The rears were a 99p Ebay special... and even came packaged up individually in Hella boxes! They are absolutely mint! A really good purchase.

Still loads to do though. I picked up an early Vento front end and a new headlining on Sunday... so it's all coming together quite quickly.

Need to get the gearbox sorted, then it'll be up on the ramps so I can make sure the brakes are fine as it's been stood for a year. Then a HUGE service, and then I can get it in for paint. Give it 6 weeks, and it'll be on the road...

What kind of 'bits' are ya looking for...?

I've got some lovely Lexus-style rears you can have! lol! I think I might burn them rather than force them onto someone and make them miserable!

Simon... yeah, it's a Wolfsburg badge. Just waiting on a genuine VW rear badge, then it's coming straight off. Yuk!

You can have the Wolfsburg badge gratis, no problem.

The rears were off on the Bay of Plenty. I only wanted a tenner for them though...

Bugger. It's failed it's MOT... 2 pages of notes!

Long story short... leaking fuel system, handbrake not 100% effective, front to rear brake lines corroded, rear brake hoses, top mounts excessive play, front ball joints excessive play both sides, front brake discs both sides and passenger headlight not working within parameters (Vento front end going on anyway!).

Not too bad I guess and all fixable, but I could have done without the leaking fuel and brake lines!
